Founded in 1973, China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPP) is the only transnational company in China that specialized in engineering prospecting, consulting, designs, procurement, construction and management of long-transport pipeline, auxiliary facilities, medium and large storage tank, electric power, and communications. 

 CPP had designed, constructed and completed in the domestic market more than 30,000 kilometers of heavy caliber and long-distance pipelines for transport of various medium, such as oil, gas, pulp solution, and product oil etc., accounting for more than 85% of the total volume of domestic pipeline construction; designed and installed more than 500 sets of various kinds of storage tanks, with a total volume of 10 million cubic meters, and mastered the 150,000 cubic meters super-sized storage tank construction technology; completed projects successfully crossing or passing through such medium and large domestic and overseas rivers as the Nile, the Yellow River, Liao River, Songhua River, and Qiantang River etc., with total crossing-over distance reaching 150,000 meters.

Presently, the pipeline construction assets of the CPP has already reached RMB 1.3 billion yuan, and the CPP has 79 pipeline construction teams, with annual construction capacity reaching 3,500 kilometers; annual directional drilling-through construction capacity 20 kilometers, and 30 medium and large rivers. In the early stage of the West to East Gas Pipeline Project, CPP had undertaken works of the X70 steel weldment experiment and technical standard establishment of more than 20 constructions, which had provided basis for project implementation; in Huai River crossing, CPP had set a new record for heavy caliber (dia.1,016), long-distance (1,085 meters) and heavy weight (back-hauling gross weight 835 tons) directional drilling-through operation. Over the past decades, CPP had subsequently undertaken long-transport pipeline and auxiliary facility construction in a number of countries, including Kuwait, Tunis, Sudan, Libya, Malaysia,Kazakstan  and Mozambique etc.

As a specialized company of pipeline engineering construction of the oil industry, CPP occupies a significant place in China's petroleum circle, and assumes an important mission.
